How to read this table

Long and short percentages show the selected reportable trader group. Net position is long contracts minus short contracts. Weekly change compares the current net position with the previous report.

COT data is a weekly positioning measure, not a real-time entry signal. Report categories differ across financial futures and physical commodities, so the positioning group is shown beside each instrument.

Retail trader exposure

Long vs Short Positioning

A provider-specific view of how retail traders are positioned. Strongly one-sided crowds can be useful as contrarian context.

Retail positioning represents the customers or community of the named provider, not the entire foreign-exchange market. Contrarian labels are analytical context, not trade signals.

01

COT gives the broader map

Use institutional futures positioning to understand whether large speculative exposure is building, fading or becoming unusually stretched.

02

Retail shows the current crowd

Retail long and short percentages show the positioning of one provider’s customer base. They are not a complete measure of the global FX market.

03

Do not merge the two blindly

COT and retail positioning use different markets, participants and time horizons. Compare them as separate layers of context rather than one combined signal.

04

Confirm with price and risk

Sentiment should support technical structure, catalysts and risk planning. It should not replace an entry trigger or protective risk control.
